POCKET GONG
Small metal object hanging on a string which has a strong internal vibration. A Vibration which can not be heard through the air. You have to amplify this vibration via
a special method - putting your fingers to your ears. Here simple physics are at work:
It’s easier for vibrations to pass through dense structures than loose air molecules. Play
around with different surfaces and try to hit the Pocket Gong from different directions.
Experiment and let the sound flow with your calmness.
HOW TO PLAY?
1. Place string loops on your fingers.
2. Lean forward. The hanging string should be free of touch.
3. Hit the Pocket Gong against an object. Any reachable surface works for it so go around
the room and feel the differences within each surface!
INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE
Pocket Gong is a metal instrument with a naturally applied oxide layer. This layer is
protective but requires maintenance - from time to time it requires the application of
natural oil onto it. Any kind of oil is good for this.
STRANGE SOUND ? NO SOUND ?
1. Check if the cut of Pocket Gong is clean - remove any small particles if you find those.
2. Check if the instrument is not deformed - if it is, try to recover its shape.
3. If the string is broken, you can easily choose any other kind of string or even use the
same just shorter - you just need to make a knot for your fingers.
